Vining Ivy,PPG 2023 Color of the Year

PPG's Vining Ivy, a deeply saturated, jewel-toned green with cool turquoise undertones, is expected to set the tone for a wide range of consumer and industrial products in the coming year. Vining Ivy lands between a woodsy forest green and a blue-green teal, providing product designers with a versatile and luxurious shade that is suitable for a broad range of products including consumer electronics, office furniture, kitchenware and building applications.

Dream in Color

To introduce the 2023 Color of the Year and the three corresponding palettes to industrial designers, product designers, architects and stylists, PPG's industrial coatings business has released a video that tells the story of a young designer who reflects upon her career choices and the sacrifices she has made to pursue her dream. This story is told with dramatic effect through the strong supporting cast of colors, Vining Ivy and the Serenity, Origin and Duality collections, all of which are creatively featured in multifaceted ways throughout.

PPG Reflection Forecast

This theme for this year's color forecast is Reflection, a carefully curated collection of 45 coordinating hues, compiled into three unique color stories: Serenity, Origin and Duality.

A gentle palette of milky pastels, watery tones and warm neutrals, Serenity reflects our desire for calm and solitude in a chaotic world and inspires a sense of renewal and peace.

By capturing the magnificence of nature, Origin surrounds us with authentic beauty and cultivates our sense of wonder. This bio-palette is curated with organic hues that grounds us to the earth and acknowledges our kinship with it.

Lending itself to both traditional and contemporary styles, Duality leans into contrasts and is a means of self-expression through bold and bright shades, clean pastels and strong neutrals.

Color Expertise

Each spring, more than 30 stylists from dozens of global regions from various PPG businesses like architectural, automotive, consumer products and aerospace, participate in an intensive, days-long color workshop to determine the "it" color for the following year.

This comprehensive color forecasting process is unrivaled in scope in the industry. This expertise, coupled with PPG's full suite of coatings technologies, has enabled the company to shape the color direction for more surfaces than any other coatings maker in the world.

By participating in this process, color stylists from Industrial Coatings are uniquely positioned to work with OEM designers to translate the color forecast to their specific products and applications. This work can be done in-person at a state-of-the-art PPG color studio or through a virtual workshop.
